2As things progress they have now removed the form work for the concrete walls around the tanks. Now they are setting up for the next wall which will actually be the side of the pool.
Meanwhile, the wild westerly wind in early late June blew the brush fencing panels right off the framework. The fencing man has been to look at repairing it, but tells me it’s likely to fall apart when they try to remount the panels. Brush fencing has a life of about 20 years (no one told me that before), but with about 150m or brush fencing, I’m not about to replace the lot. Maybe later.

The Insulation Saga – Post No.11
So the builder has worked out why I needed to wear a beanie and a down jacket indoors during the winter. As they ripped off plaster here and there to move some power points (GPOs in architect lingo) they discovered a lack of insulation in the walls. Apparently this is a no-no and may have contributed to why the original builders in 1999 went broke. On further investigation, they identified very little insulation in walls they weren’t even going to touch. This entailed a very technical approach of smashing a hole in various walls. I haven’t bothered wondering who would have paid to have these walls repaired if there actually had been insulation in the walls. So now we get to add on more insulation, and then replace the plaster, then paint the walls. Ching ching again.
Raising the Floor – Post No.10
It seemed fairly straightforward to make the floor all one level upstairs. But once the clever carpenters started doing the new joists, they found that the existing floor was actually on a slope with a total drop of 14mm. Ching ching – another Variation as they built up the difference. Finally they have put down some boards at the new level. I’ll get another shot soon which shows this new space off better. Suffice to say, it is vast. I’m going to need a new vacuum cleaner.

Chippies Have Been Busy – Post No.8
We went away for a week in July for some sun at Noosa. Things moved along while we were there despite some awful weather. Below you can see the rooms taking shape downstairs. The window frames are in down there – albeit with no glass. I did point out to the builder that there was no glass, but he had already spotted it. Good to have sharp people on the job ehh?
Next up we found the Amazing Roof.
All the tradies rave about the Amazing Roof and how good it will look. I have had a lot of trouble getting my head around how it’s going to turn out. Below is an early concept pic which sort of shows how its meant to finish up.
That bit on the top on the left hand side – that’s the amazing bit. Stay with me – it will all unfold.
