Southern Ocean Traverse, September 19, 2013

East again. Closer to home every day. We might stop in and say Hi, then keep on going. (Only kidding Sam).

Today was an absolute delight of wildflowers. The entire drive from Bremer Bay to our camp tonight (the beach south of Munglinup) was lined with masses of wild flowers. It was hard to keep an eye on the road.

We stopped at 12 Mile Beach for a peek at the Southern Ocean.

We also found the end of the No. 1 Rabbit Proof Fence. This is 1833km from where we saw the northern end at 80 Mile Beach, north of Port Hedland. That was kind of cool.

The boys went for a dive in the protected lagoon at Munglinup Beach and speared a Magpie Perch. It wasn’t a huge one, but enough for Fergus for dinner. It’s a beautiful spot to camp here, just behind a dune from the beach. There’s nothing better than going to sleep to the sound of the ocean.

Oh, and it didn’t rain.
